Errichtet im 14. Jahrhundert nach Christus vom Herrscher des Johanniter Ordens des Heiligen Johannes von Jerusalem und Malta, welche Rhodos von 1309 bis 1522 in Besitz nahmen. W\u00e4hrend der Herrschaft des Ottomanen Reiches, ganz genau im Jahr 1856, wurde der Palast bei einer Munitionsexplosion schwer besch\u00e4digt. Jedoch von den Italienern, welche Rhodos 1912 besetzten, wiederaufgebaut und so wieder zu seiner fr\u00fcheren Pracht verholfen. Der Palast diente auch als Urlaubsresidenz f\u00fcr Benito Mussolini, dessen Namen man auf einer gro\u00dfen Gedenktafel in der N\u00e4he des Eingangs findet.
